The Man-Thing (1974)

The first Man-Thing movie, simply titled The Man-Thing, aired on NBC in 1974. The film tells the story of Dr. Ted Sallis (Jon Lormer),a scientist who is working on a new type of serum that could make soldiers impervious to pain. However, when Sallis' lab is attacked by terrorists, he is forced to inject himself with the serum in order to escape. The serum works, but it also has a side effect: it transforms Sallis into the Man-Thing, a mindless, swamp-dwelling monster.

The Man-Thing is a terrifying creature, but he is also a tragic figure. He is a victim of his own scientific hubris, and he is now trapped in a body that he does not recognize. The film follows Man-Thing as he wanders through the Everglades, searching for a way to reverse his transformation. Along the way, he encounters a variety of strange and dangerous creatures, including a group of voodoo practitioners who believe that Man-Thing is a god.

The Man-Thing is a classic horror movie, and it remains one of the best adaptations of the character. The film is atmospheric and suspenseful, and Manfred Basedow gives a powerful performance as the titular monster. If you're a fan of horror movies, or if you're just looking for a good scare, then you should definitely check out The Man-Thing.

Return of the Man-Thing (1975)

The second Man-Thing movie, Return of the Man-Thing, aired on NBC in 1975. The film picks up where the first movie left off, with Man-Thing still wandering through the Everglades, searching for a way to reverse his transformation. This time, Man-Thing encounters a group of scientists who are studying the effects of pollution on the environment. The scientists believe that Man-Thing is a key to understanding the dangers of pollution, and they hope to use his blood to develop a new vaccine.

However, the scientists' plans are thwarted by a group of criminals who are led by the evil Dr. Arcane (Tom Atkins). Arcane wants to use Man-Thing's blood for his own evil purposes, and he will stop at nothing to get it. Man-Thing must now fight for his life, and for the future of the environment.

Return of the Man-Thing is a more ambitious film than its predecessor, and it features a more complex story. The film touches on themes of pollution, environmentalism, and the dangers of scientific hubris. Manfred Basedow once again gives a powerful performance as Man-Thing, and he is joined by a strong supporting cast that includes Tom Atkins, Jack Colvin, and Mary Kay Place.

Return of the Man-Thing is a worthy sequel to the original film, and it is a must-see for fans of horror movies. The film is atmospheric, suspenseful, and thought-provoking, and it offers a unique take on the character of Man-Thing.

The Man-Thing TV movies are a unique and fascinating take on the character. They are eerie, mesmerizing, and they offer a thought-provoking exploration of the dangers of scientific hubris and the importance of environmentalism. If you're a fan of horror movies, or if you're just looking for a good scare, then you should definitely check out these two films.
